Hobnail carpet tiles are manufactured at the factory using a method called needle punch. The pile is pushed through a backing fabric using tiny needles filled with yarn to produce a textured 'cobbled effect' top cloth. An additional backing layer is bonded to the underside of the top cloth to guarantee dimensional stability and for extra durability. The finished cloth is then backed in bitumen and finally cut into individual half metre square tiles.
Mainly produced using polypropylene fibre which is extremely tough, versatile and stain resistant. Due to the characteristics of this tile it is often used in busy walkways and corridors where it will be exposed to heavy footfall. This type of pile construction is generally used in schools, shops, industrial units, gyms, universities to name a few and is very hard wearing considering their low price. Produced in bulk this cost effective floor covering will come under budget for most new projects or office refurbishments.
